Black Hoodied Hackers
I've been in education for almost 25 years. I've taught elementary and middle school, a STEM coach, and eventually found my way into the world of EdTech. A field that is male dominated a lot of the times. After the first several years I mastered a lot of the front and back end of things. I was good at it, and I loved it. Not only did I get to present to teachers, admin, and others, but I also made sure that they never knew there was a problem because I was one step ahead of it. In 2024, a company that I was working with and I jumped on a Zoom call to work some things out. The problem was, he was sure that I could not be the right person. He continually asked me if I could get someone else that had access to this or that. To which I let him know, "That's Me!". This went on for several minutes until I finally said, "Listen, there is only one person above me. He doesn't have any more access than I do." With that he proceeded to apologize and tell me that he really is just used to dealing with guys that are in black hoodies, in a corner, like hackers. I said, "Well, I'm your DISCO BALL! So, Let's do this!" I'm the sparkle and the shine in the world of the black hoodied hackers!
